Clarice Ramirez is a Los Angeles native and is excited to be part of the Notre Dame family. She graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Sociology with an emphasis in medical sociology at Mount Saint Mary’s University, Los Angeles. She earned her Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration at Loyola Marymount University. Before starting her Master’s program, Clarice served as a Young Adult Core Member at her parish, The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. As a Young Adult core member, Clarice met weekly with Cathedral leadership to not only enhance the unity and service of all parishioners, but also to assist with the development of monthly Cathedral Young Adult “C-YA” nights, in which either members or guest speakers would share their faith journeys and share in community and kinship. As a graduate student, she had a Graduate Assistantship with The Student Housing Office and was blessed to become their first Graduate Resident Director. In her free time, Clarice enjoys curling up with a good book, connecting with folks over coffee, going to Disneyland, and spending quality time with her family and friends. When asked to reflect on the invitation to serve in the formation of Notre Dame’s undergraduate students, Clarice answered: “I’m excited to share this new chapter of my life walking with the women of my hall and assisting them holistically with both their development and spiritual growth. The Notre Dame residential experience is very unique in the way they serve their students and I am thrilled to be part of the community, connecting with my women and helping them feel at home.”
As the Rector, Clarice is a full-time professional staff member within the Division of Student Affairs at the University of Notre Dame. She lives in an apartment on the first floor of Lewis Hall and serves as both the Pastoral Leader and Chief Administrator of the Hall. Clarice's primary responsibilities are to be a source of support for the women of Lewis Hall and to provide a welcoming a safe environment for all residents. She does this by:
Having conversations with residents. These conversations can range from general life stuff (adjusting to college, making friends, relationships, careers, etc.) to spiritual conversations (about who God is, how God is working in your life, the workings of the Church, or questions that you're struggling with) to more serious things that you just don't want to face alone (struggles with classes, the death of a loved one, personal struggles). If you're looking for someone to talk with, Clarice is willing to listen!
Leading prayer opportunities. Clarice works with student commissioners to coordinate masses and Monday night Lucenarium in Lewis each week.
Working with residents through disciplinary situations. In order to maintain a safe and healthy environment for all students, we have standards of conduct for all residents. If a resident makes a choice that is in violation of a University or Hall policy, Clarice is the person she will talk with.
Writing Recommendations. Clarice is more than happy to share with others how incredible the residents of Lewis Hall are! If you need a recommendation for a Study Abroad program, service program, summer internship, or another exciting opportunity, send Clarice an email!
Being present in the Lewis Hall community. Often, you'll see Clarice in her office, in her apartment with her door open, or in common spaces. Clarice loves visitors and wants to get to know you! Feel free to stop by just to chat or say hello!
