The Basilica of the Sacred Heart Notre Dame’s church, located on Main Quad next to the Main Building (the Golden Dome!); this can be a nice place to go to mass on Sunday mornings or throughout the week to be joined by some of the South Bend community (also a good place to take your parents when they come visit!) Father Theodore Martin Hesburgh, C.S.C., President Emeritus of the University of Notre Dame a few decades ago. The library is named after him! All female ND students have him to thank for allowing women into the university back in 1972! The Lewis spirit week held in the spring; there are several events and fun activities hosted in the dorm, culminating with our SYR at the end of the week D.A.R.T. Formally “Direct Access Registration by Telephone” or DARTing, process of registering for classes which is now completed online through NOVO on InsideND DHD “Dining hall date” AKA the classic Notre Dame date at either North or South Dining Hall. Lewis' signature dorm event in the fall: Lewis Hall of Pancakes! All the chicks cook a multitude of breakfast foods in the middle of the night and serve the entire campus community; one of the most popular dorm events and all the money raised goes to the Food Bank of Northern Indiana LHOB Similarly structured to LHOP, except at this event we sell baked goods in the spring Luce Pronounched "looch," this is a candlelit prayer service hosted in Lewis every Monday at 10 PM (learn more) Notre Dating Dating someone else who goes to Notre Dame Fisher Regatta a campus boat race against all the dorms, held in the spring on St. Mary's Lake SYR The term originates from “Set up Your Roommate” (or "Screw Your Roommate" depending on who you ask); this is a dance where you traditionally set your friends up and dress to a certain theme; each dorm holds at least one per year |
